Our School's Curriculum

We run a timetable with 30 periods per week. Each period is 50 minutes in length. For some subjects, particularly practical ones, double periods are used.

Year 9

Students join the school in Year 9. Year 9 marks the transition from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4. During the Spring term students make their GCSE and BTEC choices. The Year 9 curriculum is personalised to ensure that students are well placed to be successful in Year 10 and 11.

All students will study a core comprising:
English Language, English Literature, Maths, Science, PE, Religious Studies, History and Geography.

Most students will study:
French or Spanish, Computing, Technology and the Arts, and Music.

Year 10 and Year 11

All students will study a core comprising: English Language, English Literature, Maths, Science, PE and Religious Studies.

To ensure they complete a strong academic education, the majority of students will study the additional subjects that comprise the English Baccalaureate:

Sixth Form Students

Students in the sixth form will typically choose either 3 A-Levels or one BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma. Detailed information about the courses offered can be found on the Sixth Form web site.
