Family & Student Services Centre
Our Family and Student Services (FASS) Centre was initially set up to support our students' non-academic needs. However, over the years, it has evolved and expanded to offer support and advice to parents, too. In addition to its student support, the centre also provides a base for students who are following personalised learning programme, so it also houses our Personalised Learning Co-ordinator and our Work Related Learning Co-ordinator. The day to day functioning of the Centre is overseen by assistant headteacher, Mr Dave Clark.
Our highly trained centre staff are experienced in dealing with young people of all ages and the individual difficulties they may experience during the day; from losing their belongings to relationship problems; health fears to personal losses such as family breakdown or bereavements. First aid trained, they deal with students who feel ill during the school day and will contact you directly if your child needs to go home, so please ensure you keep us up to date with any changes in your contact details or work/domestic arrangements, so we can get hold of you easily in an emergency.
Children really are at the heart of everything we do at Wolgarston and our close working relationships with organisations such as education welfare, school health services, Special educational needs service, social services, the police and fire services and Staffordshire Partnership ensure that we continue to work towards the government's "Every Child Matters" agenda, helping our students to achieve:
"Swine Flu" advice: • Parents/carers with children displaying flu symptoms, should keep them at home and contact NHS direct.
• The symptoms of influenza are: fever, cough and/or shortness of breath, sudden onset of symptoms, aching muscles, sore throat, runny nose/sneezing, loss of appetite, headache, malaise, chills
• The incubation period (the time from being exposed to the virus to showing symptoms of infection) is from one to four days.
• Everyone can play their part in helping to reduce the spread of pandemic flu. There are two key things to remember:
a) Good hygiene practice - wash hands regularly, particularly after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.
b) If you have flu symptoms, do not attend school/work.
• For any further advice, please contact Mrs Wynn in the Family and Student Services Centre.
