Philip Tapp to step down as headteacher of Wolgarston High School

March 29, 2019 | Posted by Jan Marson

After 14 very successful years leading Wolgarston High School, our current Head, Philip Tapp, will be stepping down as headteacher in September to allow him to concentrate fully on his role as Chief Executive of Penk Valley Academy Trust. Penk Valley continues to go from strength to strength and from September there will be seven local schools in our trust.

Under Mr Tapp’s leadership Wolgarston has continually improved and last summer’s GCSE results were the best in Staffordshire.  Over the last 5 years A Level results have consistently been in the top 5 in the county.  This success has been achieved against the backdrop of austerity and significant cuts in funding.

The Trust Board would like to extend their grateful thanks to Mr Tapp for his service to the school over such a long period of time and are delighted that he will be continuing to lead the development of our Trust over the coming years and support our new head as they take Wolgarston forward.

We will be recruiting a new headteacher for the school to start in September. We hope to be able to inform you who the new headteacher will be before the May half term.

Chair of Trustees, Penk Valley Academy Trust
