At Wolgarston during the summer term of Year 12:

  1. Students will be guided towards compiling a personal statement. This should be finalised over the summer holidays ready for discussion with their tutor in September of Year 13.

In the autumn term of Year 13:

  1. Students go to UCAS.com and sign up
  2. Students enter all personal details
  3. Students give their personal statement to a teacher at Wolgarston who will advise them on it and also write their academic reference.
  4. Students add the email of that teacher to be their academic referee on their UCAS application.
  5. Students select up to 5 courses (but 1 will suffice). (Additional courses can be added later, up to a total of 5.)
  6. Students add personal statement
  7. Students pay and submit
  8. The teacher selected by the student will add the students’ academic reference and predicted grades

NOTE: Certain courses (Oxbridge, Medicine and Veterinary medicine for example) have earlier deadlines and may also require additional activities, bear this in mind! Early applications get seen first and it is strongly advised to apply before Christmas for all courses and before October 5th for early entry courses. The deadline for all admissions is 15th January.

  1. Students receive offers/calls for interview/rejections from universities over UCAS Track
  2. Students select a 1st (firm) and 2nd (insurance) choice of course by May of Year 13

NOTE: Applications for student finance should also be completed in April/May to ensure that finance is available for September. The student does not need to have a confirmed place at any university before starting their student finance application.

  1. Decide on accommodation with the firm choice of university
  2. Await results
  3. Go to university
