Wolgarston High School is a thriving, 13-18 comprehensive serving the communities of Penkridge, Brewood, Wheaton Aston, Bishop’s Wood, Dunston and Coven. With over 800 students, including 170 in the Sixth Form, the school is both a vibrant place to be and highly successful.
We are delighted that our Ofsted Inspection report (2014) describes behaviour in lessons as ‘exemplary’ and the school’s work to keep students safe and secure as ‘outstanding.’ Teachers have ‘expert subject knowledge’ and ‘provide a very high level of challenge.’ The sixth form was rated ‘outstanding’ in all aspects and school leadership and management also gained top marks. Crucially, inspectors judged that the school ‘shows an outstanding capacity to improve further.’
We pride ourselves on the friendliness of the school, and the close relationship between staff and students. It is important never to lose sight of the individuality of each student and the Houses, Alps, Pyrenees, Himalayas and Rockies, play an important part in ensuring that no child is invisible at Wolgarston.
We regard academic success as vital and we work very hard to ensure that all our students fulfil their potential. We have high expectations of each one of them, and expect them to work hard and give 100% in all that they do.
Our school community is built on respect, good manners and fair play. We are keen to develop students who appreciate the value of learning, are prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century and who are able to make a full contribution to society.
