Parent Governor Vacancy
Wolgarston High School currently has ONE vacancy for a parent governor on our Local Governing Committee.
The main areas of responsibility for the governors are – the curriculum; enrichment activities; pupil matters; school policies; the School Improvement Plan; liaison with parents. The term of office is four years: it does not matter if the child leaves the school during the four years.
The Local Governing Committee meets once per half term and governors attend important events in the school. The function of the governors is to monitor, challenge and support the work of the staff in school.
A parent governor does not need to have a background in education. We welcome candidates who have a variety of professional, career and life experiences and skillsets.
Candidate eligibility: A parent is anyone with day-to-day responsibility for a child on roll at Wolgarston. This includes step-parents, foster parents, or other adults (such as grandparents) who have day-to-day responsibility for the care of a child on roll. The child must be on roll at the date of the application.
To apply: Please complete the application form below this advert on the website. Competed forms should then be emailed to Ranjit Heer on r-heer@penkvalley.co.uk.
If there are more than two parents who apply, there will need to be a ballot of parents to decide which two candidates are elected.
Closing date: Friday 7th November 2025
Ranjit Heer, Clerk to the Governors
