Visible Learning
Since 2014 Visible Learning has served as the cornerstone to the philosophy shared throughout Penk Valley Academy Trust of Schools.
SOLO taxonomy (structure of observed learning outcomes) is a fundamental tool used in curriculum planning. It uses moves schemes of work, lessons, and questioning from surface knowledge to deeper learning.
We do not have a data-driven culture; instead, we encourage students to recognise where they stand in there learning journey and to know where their next steps will take them. This approach allows students to achieve their highest potential.
We place a large emphasis on ensuring staff ‘know thy impact’.
The importance of live feedback is emphasised daily. This dynamic approach allows teachers and students to make educated adjustments delivering improved learning strategies and outcomes.
We are committed to developing habits of self-discipline and embedding retrieval practice to develop long-term memory, ensuring students are fully prepared to succeed not just at school, but of the rest of their lives.
